She was thrown from her own vehicle and was killed instantly. The last days of her life were documented from March 30, 2002, until her death on April 25, 2002. The footage included the accident that took her life and was made into a documentary called ''The Last Days of Left Eye.'' It aired on VH1's rock docs on May 19, 2007, eight days prior to what would have been Lopes' 36th birthday. ==Early life== Lisa Lopes was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Wanda, a seamstress, and Ronald Lopes, an Army staff sergeant. She had two younger siblings, Ronald and Raina.〔 Her father has been described by music journalist and academic Jacqueline Springer, as an "oppressively" strict and demanding disciplinarian. He was a "talented musician" and played the harmonica, clarinet, piano and saxophone. Lopes' parents separated when she was still at school and for the later years of her childhood, she was raised by her paternal grandmother.〔 She began playing with a toy keyboard at 5 years old, and later composed her own songs. By 10, she formed the musical trio The Lopes Kids with her siblings, and they sang gospel songs at local churches.〔 Lopes attended Girls' High School. She was of Afro-Cape Verdean〔(Lisa Lopes — Ethnicity of Celebs | What Nationality Ancestry Race )〕 and African American descent.
